“We are not helpless. We see a dog in need and we do something to make a difference. Even if it's just one small thing, we choose to take action."

Welcome to The Journey Project!

My name is Erin and I'm the founder of The Journey Project. We have been volunteering in the rescue world since 2009. I am currently working with two rescue groups, Love-a-Bull.org in Austin, Texas, and Boston Terrier Rescue of North Texas, in the DFW area. We are a foster home, but also have four adopted dogs, two of which are "Canine Good Citizens" and one (our Pit Bull) is a certified Therapy Dog with Love-a-bull!

Description
We are a foster home for dogs in the Austin, Texas area. I also volunteer as a foster mentor, dog training mentor, therapy dog team member (my Pit Bull is a certified therapy dog!)and advocate for adoption. My mission with The Journey Project is two-fold: I hope to educate, promote and assist in the public awareness of animal safety, training, health, adoption and over-population. I also volunteer as an "adoption concierge," which means I can evaluate and photograph dogs or cats who need to be rehomed. I use Facebook as a means of sharing information about adoptable animals. Please follow us there for the most updated information! www.facebook.com/thejourneyproject

My goal with The Journey Project is to promote dogs in need of adoption. Most of the info I post will be about our own foster dogs, however, we are a community resource available for those people who need help to provide a safe, loving and forever home for their dogs. Our background and experience is with the Boxer and Bully breeds, however, we also have experience with, and will assist with the adoption of all breed of dogs and cats.

Through our volunteer work, we hope to educate dog-owners regarding the importance of spaying/neutering, proper care and training, as well as providing information on low-cost surgeries, free vaccination clinics in the area and free microchipping (available through the City of Austin). Check out the "Outreach" tab above for more info on these resources.
